Tom ConlonBody Zone member since September 2008.
As a participant in BZ’s 4th Annual Make-A-Wish Foundation Wellness
Challenge, Tom Conlon was one of 120 dedicated people who hit the
gym to make a dream come true for a sick child. New to BZ, Tom was
immediately immersed in a variety of fitness opportunities. Like
Tom, Challenge participants tried everything (from teetering on Bosu,
to cycling and AquaX classes) to earn points, raise funds and
ultimately win! It was truly Tom’s springboard into an interesting,
fruitful and sustained workout routine.
Did Tom win? No, but he came pretty close and ended up satisfied
with a major personal victory. He lost 25 lbs (his original goal was
10), 12.5% body fat and 5” off his waist! He enjoyed the education
and guidance from BZ’s trainers (who were on hand to help Challenge
participants) and credits Body Zone with providing a ‘new way’ to
work out.
He says, “I have always been used to hitting the treadmill for my
cardio and then the weight room for strength training. Who would
have thought that you could combine the two. My two favorites have
to be BODYPUMP and Spin. But who would have thought that I would
have taken Yoga or Pilates? Kickbox and the Intense Drills in the
agility room takes cardio to a whole new level. Aqua fitness was
also a new experience. I would have never thought that you could
sweat in a pool. There is surely an exercise class for anyone.”
That was Tom in October. And when he’s not busy running his
business, Conlon’s American Home Remodeling, you’ll find him at BZ
working out 5 to 6 days a week for cardio and weight training. And
he has new goals: lifeguarding certification and a bodybuilding
competition. How’s that for continued diversity?
p.s. With the close of the Wellness Challenge, BZ was grateful to
people like Tom who helped us raise more than $25,000 (and more than
$120,000 in the past 4 years)
