Diane Cwik, 53 suffered a brain aneurysm on April 13, 2007.  the statistic is a one in three survival rate.  After being flown to the University of Pennsylvania, Diane spent nine weeks in a coma in the neuro-intensive care unit on life support.  When she awoke, she asked for her husband (who had passed away 6 months prior). 

Slowly, Diane regained her memory and was released to Reading's HealthSouth Rehab Hospital.  As she progressed from bed-ridden to wheelchair to walker to cane to "be careful," she relocated closer to family and regained her independence.  Eventually, she could drive again despite some minor disabilities. 

After 30 years of teaching, Diane retired and joined Body Zone to focus her attention on her recovery.  That journey was again on of progressions.  Diane went form Aqua classes (still a favorite format) to weight training, to training with Personal Trainer, Nate Seager, who researched her injury and continued to improve her health.  Periodically, Diane and Nate might butt heads (as strong personalities sometimes do), yet Diane acknowledges that Nate has helped her through some tough times with her health as well as the loss of her husband.  They share a mutual respect for each other.  Venturing a step further, Diane recently began attending group exercise classes and has appreciated the compassion and encouragement she has received (actually we are in awe of her amazing determination and fortitude).  Says Diane, "Being disabled is not in my vocabulary thanks to Body Zone.  I am now attending 6 days a week."
