| Game of the Week Recap:
Wyomissing v Exeter
In
what was the best Berks County high school lacrosse game
I've ever watched from the stands, the Exeter Eagles
defeated the Wyomissing Spartans 10-9 in overtime. This
game was a tail of two halves with the Eagles dominating
the first half.
In that first half, Exeter out gained the Spartans 34-16
in groundballs and looked as if they just wanted the win
more than Wyomissing. The Eagles took a 5-3 lead into
half time and all the momentum was on their side.
Coming out of the half time break things slowly started
to change and the momentum began rolling in Wyomissing's
favor. The ground ball battle evened out and Wyomissing
outshot Exeter 14-2 in the third quarter alone and 23-5
in the second half combined.
The face offs, which were even in the first half, also
went the Spartans way in the second half. With a 9-8
lead it looked as if Wyomissing was going to sneak out
of Exeter with the win, but with less than 2 minutes
left, Exeter tied thing up with a goal from Bryan Crim.
In overtime both goalies made point blank saves just
minutes into the extra period keeping their teams hopes
for a win alive. After a time out, Exeter put the ball
in senior attack man Mike Gorel’s stick for an iso drive
from up top and the win.
Great game guys!
