| Game of the Week Recap:
Exeter v Wilson
In a rematch of the 2009
County Championship game, the Wilson Bulldogs hosted the
Exeter Eagles in a battle of two of the top girls'
lacrosse programs in Berks County. The game
started off slow with a full 8 minutes going by before
Kim Sheaffer opened up the scoring for Wilson.
Exeter put in the next 2 goals scored by Madison Orbitz
to take a 2-1 lead.
Wilson pulled even at 2-2
with another goal from Kim Shaeffer but then fell behind
again as Exeter's Brittney Heimbauch scored just before
the half giving the Eagles a 3-2 lead at halftime.
Coming out of the half
Wilson scored 2 goals less that 2 minutes apart, one
each from Julie Stopper and Patty Kiecko, giving them a
4-3 lead. Just when it looked as if Wilson was
going to pull away, 3 straight goals by Exeter, 2 from
Melanie Sayres and 1 from Brittney Heimbauch, gave
Exeter back the lead at 6-4.
The back and forth scoring
continued as Wilson evened the score up at 6 with
another goal from Julie Stopper and a goal from Laura
McCanney. With the game tied 6-6 and time running
out this game looked as if it were bound for overtime,
but with less than 2 minutes left Exeter's Madison
Orbitz found the back of the goal for her 3rd goal of
the game and lifted Exeter to a 7-6 victory.
Great game girls!
